Is there a way to offer different districts different programs. I’ve visited the border and it is hard to find a group of residents speaking English in public. How are their children being taught ? Is the language barrier making it difficult to read /learn. Each district may have different needs. If this could be addressed I believe Texas scores could raise. Thoughts ?

Doesn’t this plan seek to define a statewide “Gold Standard” for even younger children?

Excellent point, Andie – and I’m so glad you brought it up. One size fits all policies are not a solution to a state as diverse as Texas. Every community is different, every school is different and every student is different. Quality educational options for all families are important – and these options exist, such as charter schools. School choice is the purest form of local control and I am a proponent of school choice. Thank you so much.

How does the proposed plan provide parents more options?

Won’t it further limit options by filtering more education dollars through the state to define and assess it’s “Gold Standard” for our “Pre K Class,” our 2, 3, and 4 year old children whose parents were once free to spend more money caring for their young the way they saw fit?
