Citizens rarely have a true voice because many politicians think they have all the answers, and government simply doesn’t care. Townhall254 is an open forum for all Texans to engage in a vibrant discussion of the most pressing issues facing our state. We want to hear from you and get your input. We want your specific ideas and examples.
From time to time, Greg Abbott will personally participate in the Forum because he believes citizen engagement is critical for civil society to thrive. Frequently, we will have special guests on the Forum who have subject-matter expertise who can help advance an informative and interesting discussion.
Ultimately, the ideas proposed and discussed on Townhall254 may form part of a new agenda for Texas, so a vigorous and courteous exchange of opinions and policy proposals is encouraged.
The site is divided into a number of policy categories: Healthy Texans, Working Texans, Educating Texans, Securing Texans, and We the People. In each category section, Texans can engage in discussions about the policy challenges that face our state, from health care to taxes, from transportation to public education. If you have a subject or topic of interest that you don’t see listed, please let us know: we may add it to the Forum.
You do not need to be a conservative, a Republican, or even a supporter of Greg Abbott to participate in Townhall254. All that is necessary is a sincere desire to engage in a healthy exchange of ideas. Texans for Greg Abbott will moderate the forum discussions. Along the way there will be opportunity to shape the debate, and the ideas with the most support may influence the policy decisions that will drive our state forward.
However, Greg Abbott strongly adheres to a set of well-founded conservative beliefs in free markets, small government, liberty and justice, and Texas values. These conservative principles will ultimately shape the positions advocated by Greg Abbott.
