I would have to agree on this. There is too much potential for abuse on this. A thumb print should be all that is required at most.

I am glad that Texas is setting the standard of Voter ID. I am a first generation American of Latino descent and felt no discrimination for having to show my ID to vote. When I lived and voted in California, I felt like my vote was cancelled out by all the illegal immigrants that were encouraged to vote. This is another great reason I love and don’t regret the fact that I moved to Texas after I retired from the Marine Corps. Semper Fi!

Karen, that was the same argument used by the opponents of Conceal Carry legislation. We have had Conceal Carry for how many years and it has not been an issue at all for law enforcement. I am a retired Marine and understand the difference between carrying a firearm for protection and hostile intent. When you have a firearm pointed at you or have rounds coming towards you, then you know that individual is a bad guy. My brother is a LEO and former Marine and this doesn’t bother him in the least. I am looking forward to Open Carry so that I can carry certain firearms I own more easily.

This is an issue that affects me personally. I am a retired Infantry Marine Gunnery Sergeant that is currently attending the University of Texas at Dallas. I am highly offended that I am not trusted to carry a firearm to protect myself as well as others after doing so for my whole career in CONUS and OCONUS. If something were to happen, I would have to just run away to save my life or stay and die to protect as many people as possible. Those choices are just plain wrong and I want to be able to stay and fight. I would love to see this issue resolved in the upcoming legislative session as well as having open carry. Thanks and Semper Fi!
