  • April call DARs I have found them to be of great assistance with my sons training, have done more for him then the school in little less the a year!

All special needs children are being left behind now days! With the cscope lesson plans and the one teach all plan, our special needs children are being thrown away. My son has several learning disabilities! It has been a nightmare in the public schools with teachers refusing to follow the IEPs, disputing he has a disability and with a school administration who make empty promises about the IEPs being followed! My son completed algebra 2 passing it but testing shows he is at a 3 rd grade level. He is unable to multiply and divide though we have asked for special assistance in this he did not obtain it until 2 weeks before he graduated! When you make a complaint as a parent you are belittled and intimidated! And it takes 6 months to get on the school agenda! I am asking that strict rules be developed to assist our most needy children in learning!

The new trend of taking special education aides out of inclusion classrooms and the statements made by some schools that all teachers can teach special needs children, is indeed going to cause further disruption in the classrooms. This is going to put more stress on our children with special needs and more stress on the teachers who will be having to teach both regular students and special needs students! The statement that a teacher is a teacher in this way is like saying an oncology nurse can help you deliver your baby!
