  • Ms. Harenza, thanks for your input!

What are your thoughts on state control vs. federal control of state exchanges? How do you feel about allowing insurance carriers to sell across state lines?

Thanks for your input, Ms. Christopherson!

What kind of solutions would you like to see?

    Thanks for writing, Ms. Harenza.

In what ways would you incentivize businesses to outsource to Mexico rather than other countries? How would you handle issues within Mexico (cartel violence, safety at maquiladoras) in order to sell this idea?

    Thanks for sharing, Mr. Ortiz!

Texas has a little under 50 desalination plants at this time. Would you suggest expanding to the coast and experimenting with seawater desalination (as Laguna Madre Water District is attempting to do)? And what are your thoughts on funding?

    Hi Mr. Curry –

As you know, several states have enacted such legislation. This past legislative session, Texas attempted to as well. http://www.ncsl.org/issues-research/human-services/drug-testing-and-public-assistance.aspx

Which benefits would you extend this to, and how would you propose funding?

Thank you for posting! What is your source for the $15 billion figure? How would you recommend the state combat the negatives associated with gambling? For instance: http://govinfo.library.unt.edu/ngisc/reports/8.pdf

    Mr. Willis and Margo –

Would you suggest using an increase in education funding to lengthen the school day or school year? If not, what would you propose?

    Ms. Gouthier –

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Obesity is indeed a serious issue. Texas requires that elementary school children have 135 minutes a week of physical activity, 30 minutes a day for middle school children, and high school student must have 1.0 credit of physical education to graduate (can be substituted but not exempted). http://info.sos.state.tx.us/pls/pub/readtac$ext.ViewTAC?tac_view=4&ti=19&pt=2&ch=116
How would you propose creating more time for P.E.? What are your thoughts on nutrition/health classes in addition to P.E. or in place of P.E.?
