The way things stand now, I will not send my children to public schools, both because of the curriculum taught and because schools being automatic “gun free” zones make them targets, even with larger schools having their own police departments. What will be done to lift the ban on concealed carry on school campuses and school events?

As a mother with an eight year old in the public school system, no one is more concerned than I am about the safety of our children. There are no easy answers, but I was proud to help pass The Protection of Texas Children Act that allows trained and designated school marshals to carry a firearm for the protection of our children on campus. This is a good start and we need to continue to look at all options to ensure safe schools. I appreciate your support and concern. Thank you so much, Benjamin, for this question.
