  • Legal Marriage for All!

I am a mother of four, a wife, a retired teacher, a grandmother. I taught in Texas high schools for many years. Many of my students were gay. Yet they were productive, wonderful students. As an advocate for LGBT, I ask that you be more understanding of their legal plights and allow them legal unions. God is on their side. “Judge not that you be not judged”.

    Thank you.

I am a mother of three, a wife, a working nurse, a grandmother, and a Christian. I have worked in Texas hospitals for many years. Many of my patients were gay. Yet they were productive people, and wonderful patients. Many of my patients throughout my 20 years in nursing had HIV and it was very hard to watch them suffer and die. In your profession you probably never had to witness that. The students you taught were mostly young and vibrant with a bright future to look forward to I am guessing. I do not judge my patients or anyone else. If they are gay, that is their choice. But I do not have to agree with their lifestyle. As a Christian, I am not an advocate for LGBT, yet I can still understand that for them, it’s about acceptance. Making same sex marriage legal sends the message that it is OK. It’s about changing other people’s views about their choice. And I’m not so sure about God being on their side on this issue. Last time I checked, God said it was a sin to be gay. Marriage is supposed to be between a man and a woman, according to God’s word. But then you did not mention your religious denomination. Thank you for your many years of teaching and congrats on your retirement. (Feel free to correct any errors in spelling, grammar or punctuation!)
