Having read our Governor’s letter several days ago, putting the Texas Militia in a position of ‘overseeing’ a routine annual military exercise lest they somehow invade our state is just humiliating. Listening to the psychosis coming from the speakers in Austin directed to the Colonel in charge of this exercise is an experience in delusion, a journey into ignorance, and an embrace of lunacy. I have to admit this letter is a new low not only for Greg Abbott but for Texas. To pander to this conspiracy anti-government group is both ignorant and dangerous. If you happen to be unlucky and come across some of these militia websites, no explanation is needed. Nonetheless yes, everyone is entitled to say what they believe. BUT, when our governor panders to these people, furthering the miasma of distrust, one has to ADDRESS this: You cannot be both a patriot of this country, yet openly support these groups who hate our own government. Abbott has so totally shown DISRESPECT for our US Army troops, he is simply un-American. You cannot on the one hand profess to love our military, and THEN turn around and support people who honest to God, believe that an empty Wal-Mart may be used by our soldiers to somehow tunnel in, set up operations, and try to take over this state. We have been the laughing stock of the country many times; this time its not funny; its a Governor who has no respect for the very troops who protect, fight, and sometimes die for his and our safety. Shameful behavior for any Governor, why must he be mine? Daughter of a military hero, wife of a decorated military veteran and lifetime member of the NRA, career working for our Department of Defense; strong supporter of the integrity and courage of our US Military. SHAME on this Governor.
