  • Who defines the rankings? Texas ranks 2nd only to FL in the amount of money offered to our Seniors for athletic scholarships every year. We rank at the bottom, along with FL, in SAT/ACT scores. These two ranking stats tend to be inversely proportional. I don’t see standardized testing of children younger than high school age changing either of those stats.

Wasn’t there a bill to eliminate CSCOPE completely not just “restrict use of” that Sen Patrick stopped (literally on the house floor I believe)? Was AG Abbott in support of that bill? If so many want CSCOPE out of our schools completely why not pass such a bill? Wouldn’t children benefit by parental involvement spent differently than hawking over lessons from a vendor few trust?

How does this provide incentives to the best teachers?

Is the state “ensuring the general welfare of Texans” through expanded state control of education a bit like the national government “ensuring the general welfare of Americans” through expanded national control of healthcare?

The proposal would expand in that it would increase state level funding for Pre K and require increased state level accountability (student testing & data) of districts, correct? Do those of us who do not believe 2, 3 and 4 year olds, a state “Pre K Class” , in the classroom is best, have a choice not to fund it?

Might the frustration with such in our kids be the reason for the rise in bullying that has many leaving public schools to find low cost, safe private options?

Does statewide standardization and testing of young children breed excellence?

Competition does serve the purpose of test makers and preppers. I believe standardized testing isn’t helping our kids, especially the young…. http://youtu.be/zDZFcDGpL4U

“Pre K Class” now “Pre Born Class” when?

Can you please reply to some of the questions regarding Pre K?

Can you link to the legislation passed to stop CSCOPE. Many seem confused about it. Can you clarify how it was stopped?

Doesn’t this plan seek to define a statewide “Gold Standard” for even younger children?

Does Austin know best or a parent about training up his/her 2, 3, and 4 year old child?

Humbled, double checking subject line might be good. I did spell correctly in text. Needed comic relief while we wait:-) It would be nice to have an edit feature to this system. More people might post.
