Andy, you can schedule and take CLEP exams at any time. Many of the AP subjects are offered as CLEP exams and accepted for the same credit. I agree that we shouldn’t be wasting our tax dollars and your time on STAARs, but don’t let that keep you from moving forward with your education. There are many free online resources to study and pass the most widely accepted CLEPs which cost 1/10th the cost of the courses for which these widely accepted, mostly duplicate subjects count:
