  • Thank you for considering my post, Donna Campbell, and with all due respect, it was really my concern for meeting the needs of the children in regard to their developmental milestones that I want an answer to. ??? Where is that in this new proposal? Where does a rigorous pre-k reading curriculum fit in with a toddlers age appropriate developmental milestones? We SHOULD have high expectations of our children, but they should also be appropriate expectations. I have high expectations of TEA and TSBOE, but feel that their (collective) need to “improve” our education system has instead brought about chaos and a lack of much needed progress.

Regarding tenure, shouldn’t this also apply to TEA? All 701 of them? Where are the checks and balances there?

TEA approved? Who is approving of the TEA?

Competition, yes, but Pearson is reputed to have a corner on the market. News has trickled down that Pearson lobbyists have made said competition null and void. Is there truth to that? Who are Pearson’s competitors? Agreed! It is reasonable to expect a measure of accountability, but how many years has Texas been giving standardized tests? Decades! I remember taking them. What is the research conclusion on decades worth of standardized testing? How is that conclusion impacting today’s measures?
