Your plan calls for “… to recruit and retain personal attendant and provide home and community based living options, increase pay for personal attendants.” and as a disabled Texan who is at risk of having to go to a nursing home because of being unable to have a personal attendant I’d sure like to know what attendants you are talking about … who are they serving … who qualifies for their care? My doctor wrote a prescription for me to have a “home health aide” the request was sent to several companies and in each case we were told this is a service no longer covered by Medicare. (I’m a veteran and it is also not covered by the VA or Tricare.) It seems to me there are a variety of things available for those who qualify for Medicaid but for those of us who worked our entire lives, played the right games, made the right plans have some provisions for basic necessities during retirement… if something happens to us leaving us disabled… the system just says “too bad” … “you lose” let’s give pay raises to the people who serve the needy who for all kinds of reasons didn’t or were unable to stay off the eligibility lists for Medicaid.
